Take Action Now: Urge Congress to Pass the Equality Act

We’ve won so many battles together, but the fight is far from over! Now that we have a window of opportunity, we must call on Congress to immediately pass the Equality Act. Together we can make history and finally pass a bill that provides federal non-discrimination protections for LGBTQ people in all aspects of life, including housing, credit, education, federally funded programs, public spaces, and jury service.

Why now? Because it’s clear that our rights should not depend on the whims of who is in power. The Equality Act will ensure explicit legal protections for LGBTQ people in all 50 states and expand protections on the basis of gender in public spaces. Under current law, LGBTQ people are at risk of being refused housing or denied services, including a transgender person refused healthcare or a lesbian refused service at a hotel, in 29 states across the country. If an LGBTQ person drives from Maine to California, their rights would literally change dozens of times along the way.
